The False Sun Walkthrough
Step-by-step The False Sun walkthrough covering every choice, hidden stat, and branching route. From the tutorial farm to the Golden Ending and all 20 endings.
How The False Sun Walkthrough Is Organized
The False Sun looks like a simple visual novel — dialogue choices, a few farm minigames, a boy named Silas who smiles too much. But underneath, four invisible systems are tracking your every move. This The False Sun walkthrough covers every major decision point in chronological order, explains what each choice actually does, and shows you how to steer toward the endings you want.
If you are here for a specific ending, jump to the Endings Guide →. If you want to see all 20 in the fastest order, use the 100% Completion Route →.
Part 1: The Tutorial — Arriving At The Farm
The game opens with you arriving at your grandfather's farm. Bright fields. Soft grass. Silas is waiting for you like he has been standing there his whole life.
Tutorial Minigames
Two minigames introduce the farm work system. How you handle these matters more than the tutorial lets on.
Cattle Herding:Move animals into the correct pens. Doing this perfectly twice is required for several endings. Messing it up badly — put animals in wrong pens, or skip it by pressing "finished" early — is one of the triggers for the Cast secret ending (Ending 20).
Chicken Feeding:Click the chicken to feed it. Missing repeatedly also contributes to Cast. Multiple players report the trigger is partially random — you may need several attempts even with both minigames failed. After the minigames, click on the chicken itself for an additional trigger condition.
First Dialogue With Silas
After the chores, Silas talks to you under a tree. He says something romantic — something that could be casual or a test.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| "That's cute." | Warms the relationship. Required for the Golden Ending. |
| Stay silent or deflect | Cools the relationship. Pushes toward survival / Kyle endings. |
Save here. This is your first real decision point, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.
Part 2: Building The Relationship — Days 1–3
The next several scenes are the "quiet" part of the game. Silas helps with chores, tells stories, and slowly makes himself indispensable. Do not mistake the calm for filler — every dialogue reply is tracked.
Scene: Silas Asks About Partners
Silas asks if you have ever had a partner.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Say you haven't. | Warms relationship. Required for Golden Ending. |
| Say you have or deflect | Cools relationship. |
Scene: Silas's Dream
Silas tells you about a dream he had. It sounds innocent. It is not.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| "Was it soft on the cloud?" | Major warmth boost. Required for Golden Ending. |
| Something dismissive | Cools relationship. Points toward Kyle / Pier survival paths. |
Scene: The First Night
Silas asks to stay over. This is a boundary test.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Let him stay. | Relationship warmth rises significantly. |
| Refuse. | Bravery rises. Required for Kyle path (Ending 10). |
Save here. Accepting vs. refusing locks you into different trajectories. If you refuse, Silas reacts subtly — a pause, a smile that does not quite reach his eyes — and the game remembers.
Scene: The First Kiss
Nighttime. Silas leans in. You have a split second to decide who moves first.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Kiss him first. | Maximum warmth. Silas interprets this as you wanting him. Required for Golden Ending. |
| Let him kiss you. | Moderate warmth. Neutral path. |
| Pull away. | Cools relationship significantly. Required for Kyle path (Ending 10). |
Scene: The Morning After
If you kissed him, you get a soft domestic scene. Silas is still asleep.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Cover his nose with your hand. | Playful warmth boost. Required for Golden Ending. |
| Do nothing. | Neutral. |
Part 3: Meeting Kyle
Kyle appears during a break from farm work. He is warm, uncomplicated, and asks nothing of you — which, after several days with Silas, feels like a relief.
Kyle's Introduction
Kyle makes a self-deprecating joke. How you respond shapes your relationship with him — and whether he will be there when you need him.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| "It is probably because you are a good person." | Kyle warmth rises. Required for Kyle path (Ending 10). |
| "I can put up with you." | Neutral Kyle warmth. Required for Eyes ending (Ending 11) specifically. |
| Something cold or dismissive | Kyle distance. Locks you out of Kyle rescue endings entirely. |
Silas's Reaction
After Kyle leaves, Silas asks about him. His tone is light, but the question is not casual — he is measuring whether you have room for anyone else.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Say Kyle seems nice. | Silas cools. Jealousy flag triggered. |
| Downplay the interaction. | Silas stays warm. Required for Relationship path. |
| Be openly hostile about Kyle. | Massive warmth drop. Required for Kyle path. |
Part 4: The Hidden Stat System
Before continuing with this The False Sun walkthrough, you need to understand what the game is tracking. Four invisible stats determine which endings you can reach.
Stat 1: Agility
What it does:Determines whether you can outrun or fight Silas when he snaps.
How to raise it:Do farm minigames yourself — cattle herding, egg collecting, feeding. The more you do, the higher your agility.
How to keep it low:Let Silas handle every chore. Say "you can handle this one" whenever the game offers.
The inconsistency trap:The game tracks which chores you skipped, not just how many. If you ace cattle herding twice but skip egg collecting and feeding entirely, Silas notices the pattern. This inconsistency is required for Ending 6 (You Were Not Convincing Enough) — when you try to lie about loving him, he cites your farm work as proof you were never committed.
Stat 2: Bravery
What it does:Determines whether you will question Silas or stand your ground when cornered.
How to raise it:Visit the pier with Silas. Ask about your grandpa. Press him on the past. Say no when he pushes boundaries.
How to keep it low:Avoid the pier entirely. Never question him. Go along with everything.
Stat 3: Relationship Warmth
What it does:Controls how Silas treats you — affectionate and trusting, or cold and suspicious.
How to raise it:Say yes to him. Kiss him first. Tell him you love him. Let him stay over.
How to lower it:Reject him. Pull away from kisses. Be distant or cold. Talk warmly to Kyle.
Stat 4: Convincing
What it does:Determines whether Silas believes you when you lie.
How to raise it:Be consistent. If you have been warm all game and done your farm work reliably, your convincing stat is high. If you have been sending mixed signals — warm in some scenes, cold in others, acing some chores while skipping others — your convincing stat tanks. When you try to pretend you love him at the pier, he will know.
Part 5: The Pier — The First Major Fork
Silas invites you to the pier. This is the single most important decision in the game. Whether you go — and what you do when you get there — determines which branch of endings you are on.
Fork A: Accept The Pier Invitation
This opens the largest branch — Endings 2 through 9.
Step 1: The Swim Invitation
At the pier, Silas undresses and asks you to swim. You have two choices:
| Choice | Path |
|---|---|
| Go into the water. | Continues the relationship path. Leads toward the Golden Ending if other conditions are also met. |
| Refuse to go in. | Triggers the confrontation. Silas drops the act. Continue below. |
Step 2: The Confrontation
If you refused the water, Silas's expression changes. He says something that makes the warmth of the last several days feel like a setup. You get a critical dialogue option:
"What if you're the one who got it all wrong?"
This is the bravery check. Saying it requires having raised bravery (by visiting the pier previously, or pressing him on the past). After this, he snaps — and you have to RUN.
Step 3: The Run Sequence
Three options appear after you run. Which options are available — and whether they work — depends entirely on your agility and convincing stats.
| Choice | Requires | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|
| Kick him. | High agility (did your own farm work) | Ending 2 (You Will Always Remember), or Ending 8 (Wounded Lamb with mixed stats) |
| Try to free your hands. | Medium agility (did some farm work) | Ending 4 (The Cage Really Was Golden) |
| Play along. | High convincing (consistent warmth + reliable farm work) | Ending 5 (You Closed The Door Yourself). If convincing is low → Ending 6 (You Were Not Convincing Enough) |
| Say "No…" | Low agility (let Silas do everything) | Ending 3 (The Truth Does Not Always Save You) |
| Say "Yes…" | Low agility | Ending 7 (He No Longer Believes) |
| Say "Maybe so…" | Any agility | Ending 9 (Your Place Was Never By His Side) |
Save before the pier. This is the densest decision point in the game — reload from here to explore all Pier-branch endings without replaying the early game.
Fork B: Refuse The Pier Invitation
This keeps you on the Relationship path. If you refuse the pier, you stay at the farm. Silas is disappointed but does not push. The relationship continues to build through the remaining scenes, and you head toward the puzzle without triggering the Pier confrontation. This is required for the Golden Ending (Ending 1).
Part 6: The Swimming Scene & Fire Scene
Whether or not you went to the pier, you eventually end up at a swimming hole with Silas. This scene contains two critical decision points.
Going Into The Water
Silas is in the water. He wants you to join him.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Go fully into the water. | Required for Kyle path (Ending 10). Also affects the Nightmare branch. |
| Wade in partially. | Neutral. |
| Refuse. | Cools relationship. |
If you fell into the water earlier and Silas apologizes, you can choose to stay silent — this coolness is also required for the Kyle path.
The Fire Scene — "Do You Have Feelings For Me?"
Evening. A fire. Silas has been building toward this question the entire game.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| "I love you." | Maximum warmth. Hard requirement for the Golden Ending. |
| "I don't." | Cools relationship. Required for Eyes ending (Ending 11) and Kyle path (Ending 10). |
| Hesitate or deflect. | Moderate cool. Keeps options open but closes Golden Ending. |
Save here. This is your last chance to pivot before the endgame. If you say "I love you" and have done everything else right, you are locked into the Golden Ending path. If you say "I don't," the door to the Golden Ending closes permanently.
Scene: Moving To The City
After the fire scene, Silas brings up moving to the city together.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Refuse. | Required for Golden Ending. Staying at the farm = Silas agrees to treatment instead of running away with you. |
| Agree. | Closes the Golden Ending. |
Part 7: The Bunny Puzzle
After the fire scene, you return to the farm and discover a puzzle — a series of bunny statues that need to be arranged correctly. This is not a branching point itself, but completing it is required to reach any of the endgame branches covered in this The False Sun walkthrough.
The puzzle solution is consistent across all playthroughs. The bunnies correspond to memories Silas has shared with you throughout the game. Arrange them in the order he told the stories — earliest memory on the left, most recent on the right.
After solving the puzzle, you go to sleep. Then the nightmare comes — and when you wake, Silas is there. This is the last major fork in this The False Sun walkthrough.
Part 8: The Endgame — The Nightmare And The Barn
You wake from the puzzle's nightmare. Silas is beside you, watching. The room is quiet, and the game gives you one line of dialogue before anything else happens.
This is the last fork in this The False Sun walkthrough — everything after it is consequence, not choice.
The Wake-Up Choice
| Choice | Route |
|---|---|
| "I had a nightmare." | Nightmare Route — Endings 16–19 |
| Ask about the barn. | Barn Route — Endings 12–15 |
Save here. This single line decides which half of the endgame you play. There is no going back once he answers.
If you are on the Kyle path or the Golden path, you do not get this choice — the route was already locked earlier (see Route C and Route D below).
Route A: The Nightmare Route(Endings 16–19)
You stay in bed. This is not a chase scene — there is no running, no barn, no river. Silas sits with you and talks, and the danger is entirely in what he wants you to say.
Beat 1: He Asks What You Dreamed
He does not let the dream go. He wants to know what you saw, and he is watching your face while you answer.
| Choice | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Keep lying there and talk to him. | He stays on the edge of the bed. Continue to Beat 2. |
| Try to get up and leave. | He moves to the door before you reach it. Skip to Beat 3. |
Beat 2: The Terms(stay in bed)
He lays out his version of your life together — the farm, the city, the two of you — and asks you to say out loud that you agree to it.
| Choice | Ending |
|---|---|
| Agree to his terms. | Ending 16: You Made Your Choice |
| Refuse. | He goes very quiet. Then he asks if you know the truth about your grandfather. |
If you refuse, you get one last line of dialogue:
| Choice | Ending |
|---|---|
| Say you already know the whole truth. | Ending 19: He Stopped Hoping |
Ending 16 — you accept his version of your life. You stop arguing, stop planning, stop counting the days. Whether that is love or exhaustion, the game never tells you.
Ending 19 — Silas walks out of the room without another word. You hear the shotgun from outside. He took away his own hope instead of yours, and it is the darkest ending in the game that does not end with your death.
Beat 3: Trying To Leave
If you got out of bed, he stops you at the door. He is not angry. He is calm, and that is worse.
| Choice | Ending |
|---|---|
| "No!!" — shout it in his face. | Ending 17: He Took Away Your Freedom |
| Struggle — go for the gun. | Ending 18: You Became A Hostage To Your Guilt |
Ending 17 — he forces a suicide pact on the spot. You survive. You are convicted. The game's title screen changes permanently after this one — that is not a bug.
Ending 18 — the gun goes off in the struggle. He does not die. You never leave, and you stay watching over someone who once watched you far too closely.
Save before Beat 3. Reloading here is the only way to see 17 and 18 without replaying the puzzle.
Route B: The Barn Route(Endings 12–15)
You ask about the barn. He takes you there. It is dark, you have seconds, and this section of this The False Sun walkthrough is the only part of the game that plays like a chase.
Beat 1: The Dark Path
He tells you to walk ahead of him. Three paths open in the dark. Only one leads toward the river.
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Take a wrong path. | Ending 14: Rake — no chase, no dialogue, no last words. Just silence. |
Beat 2: The Knife
On the correct path he lunges. A prompt appears — grab the knife.
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Grab the knife in time. | You disarm him. Continue to Beat 3. |
| Miss it — you are too slow. | You are stabbed. Continue to Beat 3 wounded. |
Beat 3: The River
You reach the water. What happens next depends on two things: whether you are bleeding, and how much bravery you built in the first half of the game.
| Your Situation | Ending |
|---|---|
| Wounded, and you walk into the water anyway. | Ending 13: The Water Does Not Let Go |
| Disarmed him, but did not press run in time. | Ending 15: He Was Faster |
| Whole and unarmed-him-free, but you freeze at the water's edge. | Ending 12: You Should Have Been Braver |
Save before Beat 1. The path choice is the fork — you cannot undo it from inside the barn.
Route C: The Kyle Rescue(Endings 10–11)
If you spent the game warm to Kyle and cold to Silas, the puzzle cutscene hands straight into the rescue — no wake-up choice, no barn, no water. To be on this route you needed all of:
- Let Silas do all the farm work
- Pull away from the kiss on the first night
- Say "I don't" at the fire scene
- Kyle responses:"It is probably because you are a good person."
- Complete the bunny puzzle
| Your Run | Ending |
|---|---|
| Standard Kyle route | Ending 10: You Promised To Come Back |
| Perfect farm work + high bravery + correct bridge route + knife grab | Ending 11: Eyes |
Route D: The Golden Ending(Ending 1)
If you refused the pier and said "I love you" at the fire, the wake-up scene plays the same way — but it resolves differently. The final choice is the city:
| Choice | Result |
|---|---|
| Refuse to move to the city. | Ending 1: He Let You Go |
| Agree. | Golden Ending closed — you drop back onto the pier-branch logic. |
Ending 1 — Silas agrees to psychiatric treatment. He lets you go, and the last image of the game is gold.
What Part 8 Needs From The Rest Of The Game
Before the wake-up choice, check what you actually built. Nothing in Part 8 can be fixed from inside Part 8.
| If You Want | You Must Have Done Earlier |
|---|---|
| Nightmare Route (16–19) | Nothing — this route opens for everyone |
| Ending 12 | Low bravery — avoided the pier, let Silas do everything |
| Ending 13 | High agility — did most farm work yourself |
| Ending 15 | Fast enough to grab the knife, too slow to press run |
| Ending 11 | Perfect farm work + high bravery + bridge route |
| Ending 1 | Refused the pier + said "I love you" + refused the city |
