Most visual novels have characters. The False Sun has leverage. Almost everyone in it exists to change what you are allowed to do later — which is why the same scene can end four different ways depending on who you talked to first.
This page is the index. Who each character is, what they want from you, and which parts of the game they actually control. For the mechanics behind their choices, the The False Sun guide covers the four hidden stats.
If you have not played yet: nothing below reveals plot twists, but it does name relationships. The Guide → is the better first stop.
Silas
The farm boy waiting at the gate when you arrive, and the character every one of the 20 endings runs through.
- Role: Primary antagonist and sole companion
- Appears in: Every route — he controls 19 of the 20 endings
- Wants: To be the only thing in your life that has nowhere else to go. Not to hurt you — to keep you. That distinction is the whole game.
- The tell: He asks more than he answers. He is always already there. He has no life outside the farm.

Kyle
Kyle is the one relationship in The False Sun that does not run through Silas. He turns up during a break from farm work, makes a self-deprecating joke, asks you nothing, and never checks whether you answered warmly.
- Role: The only outside contact
- Appears in: The case rescue endings (10 and 11), and referenced throughout
- Wants: Nothing from you — which is exactly why Silas treats him as a threat
- Why he matters: Warmth toward Kyle, combined with coldness toward Silas, is what opens the only two endings where someone else is in the room when it ends
- The trap: Being dismissive to Kyle locks both endings permanently, and there is no recovery later
Who Is Kyle in The False Sun
Kyle is the one relationship in The False Sun that does not run through Silas. He turns up during a break from farm work, makes a self-deprecating joke, asks you nothing, and never checks whether you answered warmly. That is the point:where every other character wants something from you, Kyle wants nothing, which is exactly why Silas treats him as a threat. He is the only outside contact in the game, and the only person not measuring you. He controls whether anyone outside the farm can reach you, and he appears in the rescue endings (10 and 11).
How To Keep Kyle On Your Side
Keeping Kyle on your side is less a single correct choice than a consistent tone:warmth toward him, coldness toward Silas. The rescue endings are not won by one kind word — they are the sum of a dozen small warms toward Kyle and small colds toward Silas, tracked from the first farm scene onward. The trap is specific. Be dismissive to Kyle even once and both rescue endings lock permanently — there is no recovery later. The choices that matter are the ones where you return his warmth and where you pull away from Silas at the first-night kiss. None of it is a switch you flip in one scene;it is the pattern the game has been tracking since the farm. For the exact scene-by-scene choices, see the Kyle path section →.
The Two Kyle Endings (10 and 11)
Both Kyle endings are escapes where someone else is in the room when it ends — rare in a game where most endings close on you alone. Ending 10, You Promised To Come Back, is the straightforward rescue:Kyle reaches you and Silas is arrested. Ending 11, Eyes, is the hard one — it demands perfect farm work, high bravery, the correct bridge route, and a knife grab, and it pays off with a clean exit across the bridge. They share the same setup but not the same difficulty. See both Kyle endings →.
Everyone Else
Two characters carry every line of dialogue in the game. Everyone else in the story exists as backstory rather than scenes — your grandfather died before the first screen and is the reason Silas is on the farm at all, and the village that shunned Silas is something Kyle describes after the fact, never something you visit.
What that means in practice: every branch in The False Sun is decided by two relationships — yours with Silas, and yours with Kyle. The four hidden stats are just how both of them take your measure.
Which Character Controls Which Branch
| Character | What They Control | Endings |
|---|---|---|
| Silas | Every fork after the pier — the run sequence, the barn, the nightmare, the fire scene | 1–9, 12–20 |
| Kyle | Whether anyone outside the farm can reach you | 10, 11 |
| Your grandfather | Backstory only — his death is the reason Silas is there | None directly |
| The village | Nothing you can act on — context for Silas, delivered by Kyle | None directly |
